An update...

Ok, I went back and checked, and my accounts do say:

Quote:
You can forward your mail to one other e-mail address that ends in hotmail.com, msn.com, live.com, or custom domains. You'll receive an e-mail at that address asking you to verify your account.
and I really hadn't noticed.

Although if Microsoft finds out, my forwarding will probably stop...

This was entirely unintentional, I usually forward mail to a Fastmail alias specifically for that account, so I can filter and file messages into specific folders. I have lots of accounts forwarding to Fastmail. So I created an alias of (.tld shown instead of .com):

hotmail@fmdomain.tld

and I have four hotmail/live addresses:

jimlastname@hotmail.tld
jim.lastname@hotmail.tld
jimlastname@live.tld
jim.lastname@live.tld

and forwarded them to a Fastmail subdomain address:

jimlastname@hotmail.tld => jimlastname@hotmail.fmdomain.tld
jim.lastname@hotmail.tld => jim.lastname@hotmail.fmdomain.tld
jimlastname@live.tld => jimlastname.live@hotmail.fmdomain.tld
jim.lastname@live.tld => jim.lastname.live@hotmail.fmdomain.tld

and because the receiving address includes @hotmail, the forwarding works!
