My point is that people seem to be criticizing Protonmail for doing what they are required to do by Swiss law. Sure, you can criticize the law and search for providers in other countries where the laws are different, but I doubt you will find providers that can openly defy local laws. Personally, being in the USA I would rather deal with companies observing US laws that I have some idea of along with my rights.
