Add Fastmail to iPad Pro
Sorry to bother you guys with this, but if I Google this question, I don't get any results with "FastMail" in the responses. Maybe Google wants me to use Gmail? :p
I then tried "delete iCloud email from iPad Pro". The instructions I found are for a iPhone and asked for settings I don't have on my iPad. (It could be that the instructions are out of date.) Anyone willing to help me with this? |
Why would you delete iCloud email. Leave it there.
There’s no difference between a setup for iPhone, iPad or iPad Pro. Read https://www.fastmail.com/help/clients/iphone.html P.S. Always look first on company’s own support pages. |
Thank you, Berenberger. I should have gone to FM first. I’ll check out the link.

Use Fastmail iOS app from Apple app store
I use FastMail on my iPad Pro all the time. I recommend using the FastMail mobile iOS app as shown in this help item:
https://www.fastmail.com/help/clients/mobileapp.html On the Apple App Store, search for: FastMail - Email & Calendar Bill |
Thanks, Bill. I admit that I failed with the instructions I was given earlier, further proving that my username is for real. A Mac lady came over to help me, grousing loudly about the app-specific password. But she forged ahead and managed somehow to use the Apple mail app to send FastMail. It’s all magic to me, it it’s working.

The iOS FastMail app is easier to set up. I was away for a few days and missed your original post until tonight.

I really wanted to be able to do it myself. I showed the instructions I had at the time to the tech lady. She seemed really opposed to using FastMail, but I wouldn’t budge. I think she made it harder that in had to be. I have an iMac computer now, and she’s coming back to set FM up on it. I think that should be easier, although she was saying she’d have to use the app-specific password again. I don’t understand why I would have t use an app on a full-blown computer. I had FM on my Asus PC, and it wasn’t an app...

I will repeat one more time: The Fastmail iOS app for the iPad is easier to set up.

Even on a computer? The iPad is already done,

I think the recent use of the word "app" to include programs may confuse.
I consider an "app" something that I would install on a 'phone or a tablet, and a program is something I would install on a computer. But that's the way it's going going . . . Check out this web page which may assist: https://www.fastmail.com/help/clients/applist.html |
You certainly figured me out quickly, Fred. I am easily confused by tech lingo, and indeed I did think "app" was for a phone/tablet, not a "computer." I am 71 and not naturally gifted in anything tech. So thank you for the clarification. I think I can proceed now without the FM-averse Mac lady. :D

Is this correct: I cannot set up email on an iMac without first setting up Thunderbird, something I have no use for?
