Strange Emails
I received two odd emails today; obviously some spam, or perhaps a virus carrier, I thought, where the mail server has removed an attachment. But they're plain text and don't have attachments. Why would they have been sent out? The messages are like these:

I'm also getting these unwanted emails in one of may Fastmail accounts. In my case, the user name of the recepient is the same as your example, but the domain name is, of course, my own domain. These have been delivered straight to my inbox -- not picked up by the Fastmail anti-spam system.

[Moderator:] I have disguised all email addresses, personal names, possible personal domains and possible personal IP #'s (as they quite often belong to an innocent person). Please be sure to edit out these things before posting. Thank You.

These could be random messages from a spammer looking for an address which doesn't generate an email server bounce at your domain. They can send anything they want, and a random search will eventually turn up a few addresses which don't bounce as unknown users.

Or they could be looking for anyone who sends a reply. Then they also know they have found a working address.
