The blog post by the Fastmail Chief of Staff was also not a taunt. She simply stated the facts. If Fastmail had ignored their customers and not commented on their blog (and social media accounts), many posters here at EMD would have complained loudly.

Ok, all sounds reasonable. I was only wondering and also didn't notice that it said it was a re-post.

Thanks.

Down yet again in the UK

lauricat 2 Nov 2021 11:50 AM

And down in AUS.
Status page has just been updated.

Try beta login

Try logging in at:
https://beta.fastmail.com

At this moment, the normal login system is very very slow for me here in Texas. But after logging into beta it seems to be about normal speed.
IMAP and SMTP using an email client both are working normally for me right now.

Thanks for that info, Bill. I noticed that certain domains hosted at Fastmail are loading and others not. IMAP is okay for me right now.

evfrson 2 Nov 2021 12:12 PM

Itís back.

Yes, the beta system seems very fast to me right now. Maybe it's because the normal non-beta system is being attacked by DDOS, so there is much less actual good server traffic.

My personal domain webpage (DNS and simple static website hosted at Fastmail) is not reachable from my location at this time. I get "PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR", which I believe means that the connection attempt is being reset by the DDOS protection service.

We are seeing continued DDoS attacks against our infrastructure and are working with our network provider on mitigation strategies. Our team are working hard to provide stability.
I hope someone is trying to find out who it is doing it...... (The web shouldnt be a place where ppl can do things like this and not be found!!)

safe-mail.net was also have problems a couple days ago.... I wonder if they were getting hit also??

Webgenie 3 Nov 2021 07:18 AM

I'm with you on that, Bamb0 ! I really want to see the perpetrator caught and dealt with. This should not be happening without the consequences that are deserved.

hadaso 7 Nov 2021 03:16 AM

They should be treated like horse thieves were dealt with on the wild west.
However this is not going to happen, because it is practically impossible to find them, and those that can be found are located in countries that encourage their activity.
Today I read that US authorities managed to recover some of the ransom that was paid by Colonial Pipeline. Nobody's going to invest that effort on DDOS attacks on some minor email services.

Webgenie 7 Nov 2021 10:21 AM

I like your idea, hadaso. Too bad you're right that the pursuit of justice is unlikely.

Terry 7 Nov 2021 06:41 PM

Personally I would like to see a back up server in Australia.

As long as Fastmail does not have any server in Australia, they are not subject to some Australian laws that apply to suppliers of communication services in Australia.

Down in AU

hadaso 10 Nov 2021 06:15 PM

I am also seeing delays here. The webmail client disconnects every few minutes.

DavidJ 10 Nov 2021 06:20 PM

10:17 GMT

The SMTP server and the company homepage both seem to be down right now. It's about noon where I am, and I've been having trouble with SMTP since last night.

Thanks.
D.

FredOnline 10 Nov 2021 06:23 PM

Anyone tried the beta site?

evfrson 10 Nov 2021 06:28 PM

Yes beta site is working for me atm.

evfrson 10 Nov 2021 07:12 PM

Main site is back.

DavidJ 10 Nov 2021 09:15 PM

They still seem to be having occasional on-and-off conniptions.

evfrson 11 Nov 2021 01:11 AM

Unable to upload/send attachments - keeps timing out.
It is extremely annoying when Fastmail claim their systems are running normally when clearly they are not and try to imply there is a problem with my account when other users on Twitter are having the same issues.

DavidJ 11 Nov 2021 04:23 AM

Fastmail employees don't look here any more? I think they used to.
