Connect/link calendar entries to email messages

Hi

Is there any way of connecting or linking an entry in the calendar to email correspondence?

One of the scenarios I have in mind is an email exchange with a travel agent that results in a ticket/booking number/reservation etc being issued to me in an email.

I'd like to make a calendar entry to remind me to catch the flight, or arrive at the hotel, or whatever - and make some connection between this calendar entry and the previous email message(s) that led up to it and that hold the vital booking data.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

FastMail supports the iCalendar standard. All travel arrangements I have made in the past few years generate an email to me which I can import into the calendar (Outlook or Fastmail). All of my travel information is in the event automatically placed on my calendar from the email.

Thank you Bill - apologies for the delay in responding. Not been at this forum for several days.

But that's not a general solution ...

... and not all airlines etc provide an .ics attachment. Eg TigerAir didn't for me recently.

I'd like to see a solution that doesn't depend on attached .ics, even though I agree it would probably be the best solution. There are plenty of occasions when my friends could have invited me to an event with a calendar invitation, but why, oh why, do they send me an ordinary email instead?
