Is there a way to close a hotmail account immediately?
I need to close my old hotmail account but scared to just let it go for one month (I know that it can't roam around on it's own ;) ) since I am scared of missing some messages. I don't mind if they get bounced back since the sender will hen know and can contact me through another way. What I am worried is about missing a message without the sender knowing that it was never received by me at all.

I don't like to try it on my own account in case it goes against me. I want the sender to my email address to get a message saying that it is closed or inactive. Not sure what type of message will go if it closed by hotmail thinking that I am a spammer. |
If you email to yourseft 2Mb of small emails, it will clog your box and the following email will be returned to sender. This is my understanding.

Account closed successfully
Hotmail now has an option to close the account immediately just like Yahoo without having to wait for 30 days without loging for it to become inactive. I closed my old account successfuly. :)
Just go to 'Help' and do a search for 'Close Account'. You will then see a link for it in the text that follows. |

Hotmail has reduced the number of days for accounts to be closed for inactivity for 30 days now and they are providing an easy way for hotmail users to close their accounts immediately.
Hotmail seems to be going ahead with a campaign to reduce its number of existing free users. Very interesting. |
In my (tertiary!) Hotmail account, I today received the HotMail Extra Storage spam:

If you simply close your free hotmail account then you will not receive it any longer. It is only sent to is members. Just click on 'Help' and do a search for "Close account' to find out how to close your account immediately. |
Three step process:
1) Email me using your hotmail account 2) Tell me to "punch myself in the @#$%s" 3) I report you to Hotmail as a TOS violation Click Here for detals. |
